What is EMCON?
Already in its fifth year, the Empirics and Methods in Economics Conference (EMCON) is an annual conference for PhD students interested in applied topics and empirical methods in economics. Jointly organized by PhD students from The University of Chicago and Northwestern University, the conference offers its participants an excellent opportunity to present their work, exchange ideas and foster research collaboration. Keynote speaker ![]() When, where and how? The conference is scheduled to be held online on October 22-24, 2020. We invite submissions of single-or co-authored papers from PhD students and postdoctoral researchers working on a broad range of empirical topics. We especially encourage the submission of papers addressing challenging empirical questions with interesting methodological approaches, including creative reduced-form strategies, original structural estimation frameworks, and novel datasets. The fundamental element of the papers presented at EMCON is that they are motivated by empirical applications. We welcome all applicants and especially encourage researchers from diverse backgrounds and underrepresented groups in Economics to apply. Submission guidelines The deadline for submissions is July 31, 2020. Submit your paper. Submissions to the conference must include:
